Commercial Dance

The class structure comprised a comprehensive warm-up featuring intermediate to advanced grooves, followed by the execution of complex phrases across the floor. Subsequently, students engaged in the process of learning, rehearsing, staging, and performing choreographed pieces. Throughout the course, we learned three distinct dance combinations. We collaborated with other students to choreograph seven to eight minute pieces, both with peers and as solo compositions as well.

Additionally, the curriculum encouraged exploration through improvisation, notably through freestyle circles. These sessions served to nurture personal artistic expression while fostering a sense of community within the class.

-Demonstrate advanced level of body and spatial awareness, as well as coordination of complex movements
-Demonstrate distinct individual artistic voice through clear and precise choices in movement qualities in relation to different genres of music
-Analyze and perform varying choreographic rhythms with accuracy
-Demonstrate increased endurance by performing multiple works of choreography sequentially
-Perform multiple choreographic works with individual style respective to the genre

Our collective aim is to craft a cohesive group dance routine, striving to integrate various levels and formations seamlessly.

Vision
In each dance routine, there's a distinct vision we pursue. Personally, I've transitioned from embracing fluidity and flow to embracing a faster, upbeat style.

Being a member of a drill dance team, I internalized the necessity of uniformity in appearance as an essential requirement. However, my outlook underwent a significant transformation upon joining this class. I unearthed a diverse range of techniques to incorporate our unique styles into our routines, challenging the notion of uniformity. This newfound understanding not only granted me the freedom to express my creativity but also heightened my gratitude for the bonds within our community. I began to appreciate the immense significance of mutual support and camaraderie among fellow dancers, cultivating a deep sense of belonging and purpose within me.
